Meet Celine Sampson: A Visionary Trinidadian Artist

Born and raised in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Celine Sampson is a visual artist whose work is rooted in storytelling, healing, and community. Her artistic practice reflects her Caribbean upbringing, her love of nature, and her celebration of Black women and their strength.

In 2016, while pursuing tertiary studies, Celine introduced her own interpretation of Sip and Paint events to Trinidad and Tobago. What began as a creative solution to help fund her education quickly evolved into a platform for connection, expression, and joy. Through these events and the sale of her vibrant paintings, she fostered spaces where creativity and community could thrive, including within underprivileged communities across the country.

Celine holds a BSc in Psychology from University of the Southern Caribbean and has also served as an Assisted Living Coordinator for the Taku River Tlingit First Nation. These experiences deepened her understanding of emotional wellbeing and strengthened her commitment to using creativity as a tool for healing and connection. She is currently aiming to complete her Master’s in Counselling Psychology before transitioning to an Art Therapy specialization.

Guided by a belief in the restorative power of art, Celine hopes to further her studies in mental health and Art Therapy. Her own experiences navigating grief, loss, divorce, and uncertainty have shaped both her perspective and her work, inspiring her to create spaces where people can explore emotion, find comfort, and reconnect with themselves through creativity.

As she continues to merge artistry with advocacy, Celine’s mission remains centered on creating work that inspires reflection, encourages healing, and leaves a meaningful impact on the communities she serves.
